The Espian Journey

From the 1970s to the Present Day

Dear Espians,

The presence of Espians in Delhi NCR began with the first batch graduating from S.P. Medical College, Bikaner, Rajasthan. Since then, the membership has continued to grow steadily.

The first attempt to bring all Espians in Delhi NCR under one roof was initiated in the late 1970s through the efforts of Late Dr. H.C. Raheja, Late Dr. Vijay Arora, Dr. T.D. Dogra, Dr. D.V. Saharan, Dr. S.S. Doda, and others. The first formal get-together took place in 1980 in the form of a picnic at Suraj Kund, attended by a few families and some individual members.

The subsequent picnic was held at Badkhal Lake through the efforts of Dr. S.P. Singh Saharan (Paul Ji) and his team in Haryana. After this, regular meetings could not be sustained. However, sporadic attempts were made by Late Dr. Ramesh Bhola, Dr. Ramesh Garg, Dr. Chander Prakash, Dr. Subhash Aggarwal, Dr. R.K. Jasuja, and others.

Due to the absence of a consolidated list of members and their contact details, communication among Espians remained a challenge. In 1994, the need for a complete list of Espians in Delhi NCR became evident. After two years of continuous efforts, involving thousands of telephone calls and extensive cross-referencing, a list of 200 Espians was compiled by Dr. R.K. Mitruka. This led to a picnic being organized at Gouri Farm House in 1996.

Since then, the Espian picnic has been held every year on 26th January, continuing uninterrupted to date. This remarkable continuity was made possible largely due to the dedicated efforts of Dr. R.K. Mitruka.

The association is deeply indebted to all fellow Espians who have worked selflessly for the cause of the Espian alumni. During this journey, we lost our mentor, guide, and fatherly figure, Dr. R.K. Mitruka. His loss is irreparable and can never be truly filled. We continue to follow the traditions and guidelines laid down by him.

Last but not least, the entire Espian Association extends its warm regards and sincere appreciation to the spouses of the executive members, who actively supported them and enabled the successful completion of their responsibilities with dedication and perfection.

नमन

OUR MOST RESPECTED COMPANION, FRIEND, PHILOSOPHER, AND GUIDE

It is hard to imagine a world in which you are no longer among us. Death may end a life, but it can never end a relationship. We, the Espians, will never stop missing you; instead, we shall carry forward your legacy of love, friendship, and gratitude.

Your selflessness, dedication, and kindness were truly admirable. Through your untiring efforts, Espians in Delhi came together on a common platform, and 26th January became our annual day—a tradition that remains sacred to us all and continues to unite us year after year.

Bringing out a directory of members was also a cherished dream of yours. With the collective efforts of everyone, we are now able to release the Directory, fulfilling that vision.

You lit the lamp of unity nearly three decades ago and were instrumental in bringing us all together—to share both happiness and sorrow, strengthening the bonds among us.

We pledge to honour your life by cherishing your memories and celebrating your unique spirit of kindness, honesty, humour, and strength.

"You were an inspiration, a role model, and a guiding light in our lives.
YOU WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED DR. R. K. MITRUKA"

— We stand together to pay our heartfelt respects to you.

Dr. R. K. Mitruka
